Featured Ship: Carnival Elation

Carnival Elation, is the seventh of eight vessels in Carnival Cruise Lines' Fantasy class of cruise ships. Carnival Elation is 70,000 gross tons and hosts 2052 guests and 920 crew. Built in 1998 by Kvaerner Masa-Yards in Helsinki, Finland her maiden voyage was in April 1998. Carnival Elation was the first Carnival ship to employ azipod propulsion, allowing this large ship to be incredibly maneuverable. The key design element on this ship is the 6 story Plaza Atrium that is topped by a giant skylight. Casual dining options include a buffet, deli, pizzaria, and a sushi bar. Carnival Elation is a very family friendly vacation option with activities for nearly every age group. Adults have their own area to relax at the Serenity the adults-only pool area. There are two types of South America Cruises, Amazon River Cruises are 10 - 14 night cruises where a cruise ship will begin or end it's itinerary in Manaus, Brazil, near the end of the Amazon River and deep in the heart of the jungles of South America. Amazon River Cruises sail seasonally in January, February, or March. The 2nd type is a South America Explorer Cruise. These are all the other South America Cruises including routes around Cape Horn and the Strait of Magellan or itineraries that include Rio de Janeiro and Buenos Aires.
