Scoring for this inspection is based on a list of more than 40 inspection items. Included in the rigorous process was an evaluation of the ship’s water system, food storage areas, waste management, cleaning standards and more.

This inspection was part of the CDC’s Vessel Sanitation Program (VSP), which operates under the U.S. Public Health Service Act, to inspect all cruise ships that offer foreign itineraries with U.S. ports, and assist the cruise ship industry in the implementation of systems to protect the health of travelers.
